Tour Our Space

Take a quick tour of our environment to help you feel comfortable within our space

Your First Session

Your first visit is all about getting to know each other. We’ll spend time talking with you and your child so we can understand what’s been going on and what you’d like help with. We’ll ask about your child’s strengths, challenges, and any important background information. For kids, this might involve a relaxed chat, some drawing, or fun activities so it doesn’t feel like a test. For parents, it’s a chance to share your concerns, ask questions, and be part of planning the best way forward. I usually spend more time with parents in this session and allow kids to explore the space while we talk.

Future Sessions

After the first session, we’ll begin working on strategies to help your child feel better and handle challenges more confidently. This could include learning new skills, practising coping tools, or trying out fun, hands-on activities that make it easier to talk about tricky feelings. Parents may be involved in some parts of the sessions to help support progress at home. Our goal is to make every session a safe, positive experience where your child feels heard, valued, and encouraged.”

Help them feel at home

Hi! I’m Anita, and I’m the psychologist here at The Joyful Psych. My job is to help kids feel happier, braver, and more confident — and I love getting to know each person who comes to see me.

Some of my favourite things are horses (I think they’re beautiful and gentle), dancing (especially to fun music), the colour pink, and spending time at the beach. I live with my husband, our two daughters — one’s a teenager and one’s a baby — and our very cheeky dog, Milo.

When you come in, you can tell me about your favourite things too. I think it’s much easier to talk and learn when we can have fun along the way so I try to make our learning as fun and interesting as possible. It helps me to know what kinds of things you like so we can include them in our learning activities.
